Pomerania under palm trees
The settlement of the first sites on the river the "Rio do Testo" was 1861 and this creates the district Pomerode. Pomerode was, like all other German colonies, differ greatly in their structure typical of the Brazilian cities. The colonies were usually named after the region of its founders. Today the German culture very much appreciated, expanded tourism and advertises with the slogan "Pomerode - the most German city in Brazil."
The buildings of Pomerode not include monumental buildings. The houses were built in framework style. The people of Pomerode expect about 70 000 visitors from near and far. We were in January 2009, the first time to guest on the "Festa Pomerana. With ten concerts, excursions and some exciting hours, we met many new friends and even more sincere people. In 2010 we were back there.
